Looks like Google was under attack yet again. This time the companies corporate page and executive information page was temporarily switched to Chinese language, Guardian reported a while back. Was this yet another hack attempt on Google originating from China? Google has yet to respond on this. In some areas the Corporate Information was also getting redirected to the non-censored Chinese version of Google.
This comes just a couple of days after Google finally stopped censoring its Chinese search engine. Google announced on 12th January that it might stop censoring the Chinese arm of its search engine.
What do you guys think? Who could be behind this attack?
Update – Google has responded saying that this is a Bug and NOT a hack
Google says to Guardian that
This is not a hack but rather a bug affecting the language displayed to some users, and we are working to fix it soon.
What is this bug exactly?
Apparently the Bug occurred in localization code that changed Google content to the language of the viewer. This was not specific to Chinese but the some thing similar was happening in Danish language too.
